Family Camping Trips; Looking Ahead to Summer

IMG_0189It is time to start planning those Family Camping trips! A study was done where 115 adults were asked to remember their favorite childhood activity and over 75% of them said it was an outdoors play experience! No wonder, the outdoors allows a child to be a pirate, an adventurer, a scientist and an explorer–to breathe deeply and get dirty.

Now is the time to be planning your Summer camping trips. It just takes a little preparation, some courage and usually a reservation! In the state of Washington we have 117 state parks for camping; and a great State Parks online reservation system. Here is a great camping list to get your started too!

In the state of Washington, there are several amazing campgrounds for you and the whole family.

Here are my top three, all of which can be found and reserved through the State parks link above.

  • Larrabee State park (Bellingham)—complete with play equipment and fresh brewed coffee 10 minutes away. There is a train which could potentially wake you up in the middle of the night.
  • Fort Ebey State Park: Fabulous park for bike riding kids and great little hikes with a ton of beach to explore.
  • Bayview State Park: Great cabins for camping, close to the beach, and great blackberry picking; not to mention Deception Pass state park close by for exploring or my secret sneak away (the Outlet Mall just 10 minutes away)

These campsites fill quickly, so get your reservations in now and get your marshmallow sticks ready!
